The Son of God who came to earth because He loves you!
Jesus is the most important person who ever lived. He is the Son of God, which means God is His Father. But here's the amazing part — Jesus is also God! He is the Second Person of the Holy Trinity. He has always existed, even before the world was made.
God the Father loved us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus, to come live on earth as a human being. Jesus was born as a tiny baby in Bethlehem, in a humble manger surrounded by animals. Even though He was the King of all creation, He chose to come into the world in the simplest, most humble way.
The name "Jesus" means "God saves." His name tells us exactly why He came — to save us!
Jesus was once a kid, just like you! He grew up in a town called Nazareth with His mother Mary and His foster father Joseph. He learned to walk, to talk, to play, and to help around the house. Joseph was a carpenter, so Jesus probably learned how to work with wood too.
Jesus always obeyed His parents, was kind to everyone around Him, and loved to pray to His Heavenly Father. Even as a boy, He amazed the teachers at the Temple in Jerusalem with how much He knew about God.
When Jesus grew up, He began to teach people about God's love. He told wonderful stories called parables to help people understand big ideas in simple ways. He taught us to love one another, to forgive, to be kind to the poor, and to trust in God.
Jesus also performed amazing miracles! He healed sick people, gave sight to the blind, and even brought people back from the dead. He calmed storms, walked on water, and fed thousands of people with just five loaves of bread and two fish. Everything He did showed us how powerful and loving God is.
Jesus had twelve special friends called Apostles. They left everything to follow Him and help share His message of love with the world!
The most important thing Jesus did was give His life for us. Even though He never did anything wrong, He chose to die on the Cross to save us from sin. Sin is anything that separates us from God, and Jesus took that weight upon Himself because He loves us that much.
But the story doesn't end there! Three days later, on Easter Sunday, Jesus rose from the dead! This is called the Resurrection, and it's the greatest miracle of all. It means that death is not the end — because of Jesus, we can live forever with God in Heaven.
Even though Jesus returned to Heaven to be with His Father, He never left us alone. He is present in a special way in the Eucharist — the bread and wine that become His Body and Blood at Mass. He is also with you every time you pray, every time you are kind, and every time you feel His love in your heart.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me." That means you! He wants to be your best friend, your guide, and your protector. You can always talk to Him in prayer, and He will always listen.
