The Virgin Mary

The mother of Jesus and your loving heavenly mother!

Mary Said "Yes" to God

Mary was a young woman living in a town called Nazareth when something incredible happened. An angel named Gabriel appeared to her and told her that God had chosen her for the most important job in history — to be the mother of His Son, Jesus!

Mary could have said no. She could have been scared or confused. But instead, she trusted God completely and said, "I am the handmaid of the Lord. Let it be done to me according to your word." That "yes" changed the world forever!

⭐ Did You Know?

The prayer "Hail Mary" begins with the very words the Angel Gabriel said to Mary: "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!"

The Mother of Jesus

Mary carried baby Jesus in her womb, gave birth to Him in Bethlehem, and raised Him with love and care alongside St. Joseph. She was there for His first steps, His first words, and all the ordinary moments of growing up.

She was also there during the hardest moments. When Jesus was crucified on the Cross, Mary stood at His feet, brave and full of love. Even in her deepest sorrow, she stayed close to her Son. That's how strong a mother's love is!

Your Heavenly Mother

Here's something wonderful — Mary isn't just the mother of Jesus. She is your mother too! Before Jesus died on the Cross, He looked at His beloved disciple John and said, "Behold, your mother." In that moment, He gave Mary to all of us as our heavenly mother.

That means you can talk to Mary just like you'd talk to your own mom. You can ask her to pray for you, to help you when you're scared, to comfort you when you're sad, and to bring you closer to Jesus. She always listens, and she always cares.

The Rosary — Mary's Special Prayer

One of the most beautiful ways to pray with Mary is through the Rosary. When you pray the Rosary, you meditate on important moments in the life of Jesus and Mary — called mysteries. Each decade (that's ten Hail Marys) focuses on one mystery, like the birth of Jesus or His Resurrection.

Mary herself has appeared many times throughout history to ask people to pray the Rosary. She appeared to children at Fatima, to St. Bernadette at Lourdes, and to St. Juan Diego in Mexico. Every time, her message is the same: pray, trust God, and know that I love you.

The word "Rosary" comes from the Latin word for "crown of roses." Each Hail Mary is like giving Mary a beautiful rose!

Why We Love Mary

We love Mary because she shows us what it looks like to trust God completely. She was humble, brave, patient, and full of faith. She didn't need to be famous or powerful — she just wanted to do God's will. And because of her "yes," the whole world received the greatest gift ever: Jesus.

Mary is the perfect example of how to follow God. And she is always ready to hold your hand and help you do the same.
