Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta were kids just like you when Mary visited them in Fatima.
A long time ago, in 1917, three children were taking care of their sheep in the hills near a village called Fatima, in Portugal. Their names were Lucia, who was ten, and her cousins Francisco, who was eight, and Jacinta, who was seven.
One day, a beautiful Lady dressed in white, shining brighter than the sun, appeared to them. It was the Virgin Mary! She asked the children to pray the Rosary every day for peace in the world.
The children listened with all their hearts. They prayed the Rosary every day. They offered little sacrifices for people who did not know God's love. And they prayed for peace.
Mary visited them six times. On her last visit, she told them she was the Lady of the Rosary, and a huge crowd of people saw a great miracle, when the sun seemed to dance in the sky.
Today, Francisco and Jacinta are saints! They show us that even children can become saints by loving Jesus and Mary.
You can pray the Rosary just like they did.
